Shuey’s Life

I know it’s a 1:30am and I should be asleep, but we just got home from the hospital.  Who knew this day would turn out to be such a long day?  I never imagined it when I woke up at 5am.

Anywho I wanted to fill you in on the events of today.  Our ultrasound gave us an estimated due date of November 26 which is definitely not what I was expecting.  Our initial doctor’s visit gave us a due date of November 19th based on my last period, but being that I’m irregular I didn’t expect that to be right.  I just didn’t expect there to be a week’s difference in the dates!

The little booger was kicking and punching and totally putting on a show for us, and I’ve definitely never seen Hubby’s eyes light up like they did at that moment.  He was in awe at this little being that is our creation.  He actually had tears in his eyes when he heard the heartbeat for the first time.  He’s going to be a great dad, and I can’t wait to see him holding our baby.

Anyways after the ultrasound we did head upstairs to see D, and she wasn’t doing too great.  Well she wasn’t doing bad, but the baby wasn’t liking the pytocin at all.  After the baby’s heartrate dropped a few times they had to stop the pytocin.  We stayed for about 2 hours and headed home around lunch time so I could grab a nap.

We kept in contact with the father to be, and at 6pm he sent a text saying she hadn’t progressed much at all in 12 hours and the baby’s heartrate was getting weak so they were taking her in for a c-section.  15 minutes later I got a big “IT’S A BOY!!!” text, so we jumped in the car and headed to the hospital.

Baby JJ weighs in at 6lb 2oz, and he’s 19 inches long.  I think most newborns are scrunched up little ugly raisins, but let me tell you this baby is gorgeous. I can’t wait to head back to the hospital to see him again tomorrow, but tonight I seriously need to get some sleep.

Oh yeah, and little sister, I’m sorry I didn’t call you to wish you a happy birthday.  Baby JJ kind of stole your thunder, but I promise to make it up to you.  Happy  Birthday to both you and JJ!
